[confictura.norma.x] I.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE

A central objective of [confictura.norma.x] is meaningful exchange among saxophonists and quartets working across different cultural, educational, stylistic, institutional, and professional contexts.

The international cohort brings distinct traditions of tone production, pedagogy, interpretation, ensemble organization, programming, instrument making, and artistic research into dialogue. Methods can therefore be compared without presuming a universal norm of performance.

International exchange is understood not as passive representation of difference, but as attentive listening, translation, negotiation, comparison, and shared inquiry. Participants articulate their positions precisely while remaining open to the possibility that sustained engagement may transform techniques, assumptions, and artistic priorities.

Because the program extends across several months, relationships develop through repeated artistic contact rather than brief professional encounters. The residency supports connections that may continue beyond the festival through performances, commissions, recordings, research, ensembles, pedagogical initiatives, and other collaborations.
